There’s a lot that goes into creating profitable niche websites.  But once you know the formula, it’s actually quite simple.  Presenting the Secrets of Building Practical Niche Sites in 2019. I’ve been doing this for several years. Here are a few of the steps I go through to find great ideas for profitable niche. But first there is something I need to say.

The best SEO is no SEO. There. I said it. As of 2019, what I will call ‘technical SEO’ is dead. You still need to find a niche and you still need to focus your writing toward answering a question.

The Secrets of Building Practical Niche Sites in 2019

The Niche Site Secret sauce for 2019 is to write a better article. Period.

Everything done at Google Search is to find the best answer to the question. This implies a search question, what we used to call a keyword phrase, has been or will be asked. The website, check that, the web page that answers that question, wins.

Google has humans checking the websites

Google is getting away from technical SEO. Just make a good article.
Also, there is a wait time.  Think of it as an incubation or quarantine period. This is about 35 weeks. During this time Google will test and rank your site to 90% of where it will rank for the duration.

After 35 weeks, if you don’t rank well, there are somethings you can do. I recommend you do some more research and start again on another post or page. Then redirect to that other page and link to it with a 302. This tells Google (and other visitors) that the page has been permanently moved to the new one.

Which SEO plugin do you recommend?

I don’t. I used to like Yoast SEO, the free version, not the Premium version. Now I roll my own. There are just too many technical things that take your attention away from writing a good article, that really tries to help your visitor, and does some research.

Take your time

Here’s a good idea. You don’t have to write your blog post all at once. Start by doing your research. Find a subject you are know or want to know more about. (Only you know this.) Find our if there is enough interest and then what people are asking about that subject.

You do this by starting a Google search and waiting for the autocomplete. Just open a search and type “Google is” and wait. You will get several autocomplete suggestions. This means there is interest.

Now scroll to the bottom of that page and look at the other searches. Look for the suggestions. Google suggestions mean that enough people have searched these terms, that Google knows what to suggest. This means there is enough interest in these terms.

Now, take each of these terms and put them into a Google search to see how many web pages are written about these terms. Write this term and the number of web pages next to it. Next, put the term “in quotes” to see how many web pages have these words in this order. That will be a smaller number. Write that number next to the first one.

If there are web pages listed for these terms, the next step is to look at these pages. Are they old? Are they forum threads? Good articles will be well researched, well written, be about 2,000 words in length with links to authoritative sources, have a good title, some subheads, an image or two and be interesting to read.

The next step is to decide if you can write a better articles about these subjects. If you can, then you should be able to outrank the existing site. But remember, in 2019, you won’t know until after 35 weeks. Install Google Analytics (or Search Console) to track the amount of visitors that reach your web pages and wait.
